Volleyball Recap: Barberton Magics vs. Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers

Barberton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Black Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in August.

Barberton was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Cuyahoga Falls work for it, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-19, 27-25, 19-25, 15-11.

Molly Bittinger paced Barberton's offense, picking up ten kills. Bittinger got some help from Katie Rodriguez and her 17 assists. Bittinger and Rodriguez didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with three apiece.

Barberton's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Cuyahoga Falls, their win ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-10.

Barberton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Tallmadge on the 23rd. As for Cuyahoga Falls, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Western Reserve Academy on the 22nd.
