Softball Game Preview: East Ridge Knights vs. Horizon Hawks

The East Ridge Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Horizon Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (East Ridge 3.3, Horizon 1.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

East Ridge played against Winter Springs on Saturday and lost via forfeit.

East Ridge will be up against a hot Horizon squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. The Hawks blew past Olympia 13-0 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Mackenzie Duncan and Addison Lamb were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Duncan tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lamb didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Duncan scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Lamb scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Ellie Ferradaz was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Madison Choquette, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Horizon's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for East Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-4.

East Ridge skirted past Horizon 1-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
