Lawrence County extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-7. They were beaten by the Jasper Vikings 49-7. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Vikings are ranked 61st).

Despite the defeat, Lawrence County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tavian Jones rushed for 119 yards and one touchdown. Jones showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 60 yards.

As for Jasper, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won six contests by 25 points or more so far this season.

Leading Jasper to victory were Lincoln Smothers and Zion Coger. Smothers rushed for 26 yards and a pair of TDs, while Coger rushed for 90 yards and two scores on only eight carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Coger has posted since back in August of 2024.

Lawrence County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jasper, they will square off against Gadsden City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
