Recap: Suitland Rams vs. La Plata Warriors
On Wednesday, Suitland greeted the New Year with with a 61-43 win over La Plata. That looming 61-43 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Suitland yet this season.
Suitland found their leader in underclassman Devonte Mobley, who scored 30 points. The match was Mobley's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Meshach Pannell, who scored nine points.
La Plata's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dwayne Liggins, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Liggins continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Ashley, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Suitland and bumps their season record up to 2-5. As for La Plata, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Suitland will take on Friendly at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. Friendly is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for La Plata, they will be playing at home against Great Mills at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Great Mills will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
