Football Recap: Connor Wolfson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fieldston over Riverdale Country

It was a Battle of the Birds when Fieldston faced off against Riverdale Country on Friday. The Eagles lost 27-7 to the Falcons. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Fieldston's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Wolfson, who picked up 87 receiving yards and one touchdown. Wolfson was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 60 yards.

Riverdale Country got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Cohen out in front who rushed for 94 yards and one TD on only 12 carries, and also picked up 44 receiving yards and one score. The Falcons also got help from Bennett Bernard, who showed off his sure hands for 118 receiving yards.

Fieldston's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Riverdale Country, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Fieldston is set to face off against their familiar foe Dalton on Saturday. Meanwhile, Riverdale Country will square off against rival Hackley at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Falcons 14, the Hornets 11.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
