Baseball Game Preview: Chavez Titans vs. Franklin Yellowjackets

Chavez hasn't had much luck against Franklin recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Titans will take on the Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. Chavez has given up an average of 12.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Chavez is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 16th straight game on Saturday. They lost 19-2 to Tokay.

Chavez saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joesph Baltazar, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Jose Fierros also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Franklin came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. 11 seems to be a good number for the Yellowjackets as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Devian Bautista was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three doubles, and one run. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was LaRay Robertson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Franklin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .526 or higher in five consecutive games.

Chavez's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.

Chavez suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Franklin in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
