Baseball Recap: Churchill Comes Up Short

Churchill fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Crater on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Comets, falling 10-4. The Lancers haven't had much luck with the Comets recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Jace Litten and Lucas Gansen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Litten got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Gansen went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Litten is becoming a predictor of Churchill's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-7 when he doesn't).

Churchill's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Crater, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Comets beat Churchill by a score of 7-2 on Saturday.
