Basketball Recap: Caleb Mathews' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kecoughtan over Bethel

Kecoughtan was the 56-47 winner over Bethel when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Kecoughtan Warriors took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bethel Bruins. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kecoughtan lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Caleb Mathews, who went 8 for 16 en route to 21 points. The match was Mathews' third in a row with at least ten points. Kevin Dryden was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Kecoughtan's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Bethel, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.

Kecoughtan is taking a road trip to take on Phoebus at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kecoughtan is facing Phoebus at the right time seeing as Phoebus is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Bethel, they will welcome Gloucester at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bethel will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: Gloucester will have lost nine straight heading into Thursday's game.
