Baseball Game Preview: Tempe Prep Knights vs. Heritage Academy Heroes

The Tempe Prep Knights will head out to square off against the Heritage Academy Heroes at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Heritage Academy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Tempe Prep, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, Tempe Prep made easy work of ALA - Anthem South and carried off a 13-1 win. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Knights this season.

Will Drescher was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Tempe Prep is 2-1 when Drescher posts two or more runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Carlos Gastelum, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Heritage Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Gilbert Classical Academy on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans.

Brenden Whetten was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5.

Heritage Academy has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7-1 record this season. As for Tempe Prep, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8.

Tempe Prep couldn't quite finish off Heritage Academy in their previous matchup two weeks ago and fell 2-0. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
