Basketball Recap: Madeira Takes a Loss

Madeira lost against Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Madeira Snails were outmatched by the Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart Gators and fell 55-27. While losing is never fun, the Snails can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 222nd in Virginia, while the Gators are ranked 51st in Maryland).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josie Watts, who went 7-for-16 en route to 15 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ava Brady, who went 5-for-7 on her way to 13 points.

Madeira is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9. As for Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-8.

Coming up, Madeira is taking a road trip to square off against Virginia Girls HomeSchool at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Madeira is facing Virginia Girls HomeSchool at the right time seeing as Virginia Girls HomeSchool is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, they will host Flint Hill at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Flint Hill has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
