Softball Recap: Tell City Takes a Loss

Tell City had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-4 to make it four. They fell just short of the North Harrison Cougars by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Marksmen have suffered since May 4, 2024.

As for North Harrison, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.

For North Harrison's part, Kendall Christie made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Christie has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gabby White was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bryn Myrick, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tell City will venture away from home to take on Lanesville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Harrison, they will square off against Scottsburg at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.86 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
