Baseball Recap: Anahuac's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It was a proper cat-fight when Anahuac duked it out with Kirbyville on Tuesday. The Panthers skirted past the Wildcats 10-8. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly two runs.

Braedon Edmonds was a standout: he scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Ty Wilcox, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Edmonds wasn't the only one making solid contact: Anahuac kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for the Panthers: they were averaging 4.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.

The victory (which was Anahuac's third in a row) raised their record to 9-13-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Kirbyville, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-6.

Anahuac will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
