Basketball Recap: Cartersville Piles Up the Points Against Southeast Whitfield County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cartersville). They blew past the Southeast Whitfield County Raiders, posting a 95-23 victory. With that win, the Hurricanes brought their scoring average up to 54.6 points per game.

It was another big night for Wyatt Thomason, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Bishop, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

Cartersville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Cartersville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Southeast Whitfield County, they are on a 31-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Cartersville will take on Central in a tournament on Thursday. One thing working in Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Southeast Whitfield County, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Murray at 4:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
