Eastside had won six straight home games  dating back to last season and  Javaris Gardner did his part to make it seven on Friday. The Rams secured  a  27-21 W over the South Sumter Raiders thanks in part to  Gardner, who rushed for 152 yards and one  touchdown while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 66 yards.
 When it comes to explaining why South Sumter lost, don't look at  Timothy Gaynor. Despite the final result, he rushed for 116 yards and one  TD.
Eastside's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for South Sumter, their defeat  ended  a  four-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 5-2.
 Looking ahead, Eastside is taking a road trip to  take on Sandalwood  at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday. The Rams will be up against the Saints' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.63  points per  game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for South Sumter, they will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Zephyrhills  at 7:30  p.m. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more  points each  matchup than the last.
