Preview: Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets vs. Victor Blue Devils
Rush-Henrietta is 1-9 against Victor since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets will head out on the road to face off against the Victor Blue Devils at 7:15 p.m. Rush-Henrietta has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 618 points over their last nine games.
Even though Penfield scored an imposing 64 points on Friday, Rush-Henrietta still came out on top. Rush-Henrietta came out on top in a nail-biter against Penfield and snuck past 66-64. The win was all the more spectacular given Rush-Henrietta's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Penfield is ranked 44th).
Rush-Henrietta relied on the efforts of Jalen Taggart, who scored 22 points, and Avery Council, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Council hasn't dropped below 16 points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Graylin Strong, who scored eight points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, even though McQuaid Jesuit scored an imposing 56 points on Monday, Victor still came out on top. Victor managed a 61-56 victory over McQuaid Jesuit. The win was just what Victor needed coming off of a 81-57 loss in their prior matchup.
Rush-Henrietta's record now sits at 11-8. Victor's record is now 7-4.
Rush-Henrietta ended up a good deal behind Victor in their previous meeting back in January, losing 61-42. Can Rush-Henrietta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
