Basketball Recap: Elkhorn South Storm vs. Kearney Bearcats
Elkhorn South kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a hard 65-51 fall against the Kearney Bearcats. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.
Despite the defeat, Elkhorn South saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jack Feeney posted 15 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mark Noameshie, who scored six points.
Kearney found their leader in sophomore Jayden Norman, who shot 67% from the field on his way to 21 points. Levi Johnson was another key player, going 5-for-7 to rack up 12 points along with seven boards and three steals.
Looking ahead, Elkhorn South will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Lincoln Southwest at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Kearney, they will challenge Lincoln East at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday.
