Baseball Game Preview: Maiden Blue Devils vs. Newton-Conover Red Devils

Maiden is 9-1 against Newton-Conover since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will venture away from home to take on the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Maiden comes in on six and Newton-Conover on seven.

On Monday, Maiden beat Lincolnton 7-4.

The team relied heavily on Brycen James, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Zane Williams was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Newton-Conover narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Bunker Hill 5-4.

Newton-Conover's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Maiden, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
