Baseball Recap: Ennis Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Ennis duked it out with Midlothian on Tuesday. Ennis lost 7-1 to Midlothian. The Lions have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Ennis got a good showing from Bryan Leija, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ennis is 4-1 when Leija allowsone or fewer hits, but 5-6-2 otherwise.

Ennis' loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-7-2. As for Midlothian, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-6.

While Ennis had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
