Softball Game Preview: Griffith Institute Griffins vs. Olean Huskies

Griffith Institute is 0-3 against Olean since May of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Griffins will head out to take on the Huskies at 5:30 p.m. Griffith Institute will be strutting in after a win while Olean will be coming in after a loss.

Griffith Institute took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over Kennedy. Considering the Griffins have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Griffith Institute got a massive performance out of Erin Baker, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was Baker's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kierstin Crone, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Griffith Institute was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Olean came up short against Wellsville on Monday and fell 4-1.

Olean saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Edwards, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Griffith Institute's record now sits at 6-3. As for Olean, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Griffith Institute might still be hurting after the 20-8 defeat they got from Olean when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can the Griffins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
