Basketball Game Preview: Northwood Panthers vs. Grundy Golden Wave

The Northwood Panthers will take on the Grundy Golden Wave in a holiday battle at at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.

Northwood will head into Wednesday's matchup out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Wednesday. They were beaten by Unicoi County 82-38. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 247th in Virginia, while the Blue Devils are ranked 105th in Tennessee).

Meanwhile, Grundy posted their biggest win since February 13th on Thursday. Everything went their way against Cloudland as Grundy made off with a 66-46 victory.

Grundy now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Northwood, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Northwood suffered a grim 72-50 defeat to Grundy in their previous matchup back in February of 2021. Can Northwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
