Football Game Preview: Greeley West Spartans vs. Loveland Red Wolves + How To Watch

Greeley West is 0-5 against Loveland since November of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Spartans will head out to face off against the Red Wolves at 6:30 p.m. Greeley West has given up an average of 34.1 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Greeley West is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Monarch on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Spartans were dealt a 48-8 loss at the hands of the Coyotes. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Coyotes are ranked 45th).

Meanwhile, Loveland came into Thursday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 44-15 win over Silver Creek. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Red Wolves had established a 22-point advantage.

Greeley West better focus on containing Jackson Gebhardt and Deon Christopher as the pair were huge in Loveland's win. Gebhardt rushed for 160 yards and two scores while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, while Christopher gained 152 total yards and three touchdowns. Christopher also rushed for 142 rushing yards, which is notable because Loveland is 2-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brycen Gonzales, who rushed for 49 yards and one touchdown.

Loveland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 449 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Loveland's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5. As for Greeley West, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-5.

Greeley West was taken down by Loveland 44-14 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Spartans, Ryder Eastin (who rushed for 112 yards and four TDs on only six carries, and also threw for 31 yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
