Hayfield came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Edison Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 65-51. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 69-50 back in January.

Hayfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaylen Lemon, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Lemon a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Cameron Prosper, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points and eight boards.

Hayfield pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 40.2% in those games and 29% outside of them. As for Edison, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.

Hayfield and Edison should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Hayfield (ranked 30th) will meet Mount Vernon (ranked 303rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hayfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season. Similarly, Edison will face off against Annandale at 7:30 p.m. on Monday up 115 places (89 vs. 204).
