Softball Recap: St. John's Cadets vs. Paul VI Panthers
St. John fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Paul VI on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-4. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 26, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Chloe Armiger was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Devyn Johnson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Cameran Corbett was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Paul VI, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.
