Softball Game Preview: Gloucester Dukes vs. Jamestown Eagles

The Gloucester Dukes will challenge the Jamestown Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Gloucester sitting on six straight wins and Jamestown on eight.

Gloucester is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Grafton by a score of 10-6. Gloucester's victory was all the more impressive since the Clippers were averaging only 3.48 runs allowed on the season.

Meanwhile, Jamestown got the win against Churchland on Tuesday by a conclusive 17-1. Considering the Eagles have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Tenley Medlin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Jamestown got a massive performance out of Grace Hughes, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Allie Mair, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Jamestown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.

Gloucester's record now sits at 16-7. As for Jamestown, their record is now 17-6.
