Baseball Recap: Belmont Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Belmont faced off against Hamilton on Saturday. The Cardinals came up short against the Lions, falling 15-9.

Canyon Wright was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Belmont is 2-1 when Wright posts two or more runs, but 5-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kohlyee Estes, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Belmont has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Hamilton, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Belmont will square off against Shannon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hamilton, they will take on Smithville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions are facing the Seminoles at the right time seeing as the Seminoles are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
