Baseball Game Preview: Pearl Pirates vs. Oak Grove Warriors

Pearl hasn't had much luck against Oak Grove recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pearl Pirates will head out to square off against the Oak Grove Warriors at 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Pearl's offense. They lost 10-0 to Oak Grove on Tuesday.

For Oak Grove's part, Maddox Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Miller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Eric Booth Jr and Kendrell Roberts did most of the damage at the plate: Booth Jr scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Roberts went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Booth Jr has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Andrew Kelly, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Oak Grove is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Pearl's loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
