Basketball Recap: Sonora Comes Up Short

Sonora saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They fell to the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks 59-55. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 903rd, while the Nighthawks are ranked 216th).

Sonora's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Murrieta Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

Sonora wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-37 loss against Etiwanda on the 11th. Murrieta Valley has also already played their next contest, an 85-77 defeat against Canyon on the 11th.
