Basketball Recap: Lab University Prep Varsity Comes Up Short

Lab University Prep Varsity suffered their biggest defeat since December 14, 2024 on Monday. They came up short against the Shining Light Academy Knights, falling 60-36. While losing is never fun, the Kings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 572nd, while the Knights are ranked 258th).

Despite the loss, Lab University Prep Varsity saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Moses Springer posted ten points. Aiden Theus was another key player, putting up seven points.

Shining Light Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Lash, who went 10-for-14 en route to 25 points and six rebounds. Those 25 points gave Lash a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Harry Uwaifo, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards.

Lab University Prep Varsity's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Shining Light Academy, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Lab University Prep Varsity does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Shining Light Academy, they have already played their next match, a 65-60 win against Calvary Christian on the 11th.
