Basketball Recap: Eads Triumphs

Genoa-Hugo/Karval came into Thursday's contest looking for another win against Eads, but Case Nelson wouldn't allow it. The Eads Eagles were the clear victor by a 62-36 margin over the Genoa-Hugo/Karval Pirates on Thursday thanks to Nelson, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 17 points along with seven boards and three steals. Eads is 3-1 when Nelson posts 15 or more points, but 5-10 otherwise.

Another player making a difference was Jayson Bletzacker, who posted seven points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (three).

Genoa-Hugo/Karval's loss came despite strong showings from Ryker Lockhart and Tehgan Seymour. Lockhart earned nine points, while Seymour went 5-for-12 to rack up 12 points and six boards. Isaiah Yoder also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Eads' victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Genoa-Hugo/Karval, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.

Coming up, Eads won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Kit Carson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Genoa-Hugo/Karval, they will take on Otis at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
