Softball Game Preview: Greenfield Green Wave vs. Taconic Thunder

Greenfield has gone 6-1 against Taconic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Green Wave will head out on the road to face off against the Thunder at 4:00 p.m. One thing working in Greenfield's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.

Greenfield barely beat Mount Greylock Regional the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Green Wave put the hurt on the Mounties with a sharp 14-1 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Green Wave in their matchups with the Mounties: they've now won eight in a row.

MacKenzie Paulin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Olivia Lemay was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Bianca Reynolds, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Greenfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Taconic was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They lost 13-1 to Turners Falls. Taconic has struggled against Turners Falls recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Greenfield's record now sits at 6-2. As for Taconic, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Greenfield beat Taconic 5-1 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Wave since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
