Basketball Recap: Coalgate Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Coalgate can now relate to. They fell just short of the Tushka Tigers by a score of 61-58 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since January 19, 2024.

Leading Tushka to victory were Cleat Zike and Tucker Willis. Zike went 7-for-10 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points, while Willis dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. What's more, Zike also posted a 70% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Luke Howard, who posted three points.

Coalgate has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 15 matches. That's still a better percentage than their 4-19-1 record this season. Tushka's victory bumped their record up to 7-16.

Coalgate does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tushka, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Elmore City-Pernell at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
