Softball Game Preview: Englewood Rams vs. Riverside Generals

Englewood is on a five-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Riverside a 15-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Englewood Rams will be playing at home against the Riverside Generals at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Englewood lost 23-10 to Raines on Monday. Even though they lost, the Rams' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.5 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Skyly Hyers was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Trinity Mills, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Riverside came up short against Raines on Tuesday, falling 21-5.

A Miller made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. C Emanuel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Englewood's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Riverside, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Englewood has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Riverside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Englewood took their win against Riverside in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 20-5 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Generals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
