Basketball Recap: Evergreen Park Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Evergreen Park unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They were dealt a 104-54 loss at the hands of the Marist RedHawks. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the RedHawks are ranked 11th).

When it comes to explaining why Evergreen Park lost, don't look at Keshaun Vaval. Despite the final result, he posted 16 points. The matchup was Vaval's 30th in a row with at least 16 points.

Evergreen Park's defeat dropped their record down to 14-16. As for Marist, they are on a roll lately: they've won 22 of their last 23 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-2 record this season.
