Softball Game Preview: Stoughton Vikings vs. Lodi Blue Devils

The Stoughton Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the Lodi Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Stoughton will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

Stoughton had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Fort Atkinson on Thursday. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Blackhawks. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Madelyn Barsness made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cara Link was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 matchups. Chloe Buell was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Stoughton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Atkinson only posted a batting average of .286.

Meanwhile, Lodi got the win against Columbus on Thursday by a conclusive 15-1. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Stoughton's record now sits at 13-1. As for Lodi, their record is now 10-4.

Stoughton might still be hurting after the 15-5 loss they got from Lodi when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
