Softball Recap: Swansboro Wins Going Away Against Southwest Onslow

Swansboro had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Southwest Onslow on Tuesday. The Pirates put the hurt on the Stallions with a sharp 20-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Stallions: they've now won six in a row.

Addison McMillan made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Swansboro got a massive performance out of Payton Jensen, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Jensen has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Madilyn Lemke, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs.

Swansboro's record is now 10-8. As for Southwest Onslow, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Swansboro will challenge Topsail at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southwest Onslow, they will head out to square off against White Oak at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Stallions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
