Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kylie Jones and Monica Heeg Lead Lemon Bay to Victory

Lemon Bay won the last time they faced Oasis and things went their way on Monday too. The Manta Rays came out on top against the Sharks by a score of 45-37. That's two games straight that the Manta Rays have won by exactly eight points.

Leading Lemon Bay to victory were Monica Heeg and Kylie Jones. Heeg dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards, while Jones posted eight points along with 11 steals and five assists. Jones has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Emma Yeiter also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Despite the loss, Oasis still got an impressive performance from Tessa Bexfield, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. Bexfield also posted four blocks, which is notable because the Sharks are 2-1 when she posts at least three blocks, but 1-2 otherwise. Gracie Louzao was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Lemon Bay and bumps their season record up to 5-2. As for Oasis, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lemon Bay will challenge Lakewood Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Oasis, they will face off against Cape Coral at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
