Crest Ridge picks up ninth straight win on the road

Recap: Crest Ridge Cougars vs. Wellington-Napoleon Tigers

The Crest Ridge Cougars had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.4 points), and they went ahead and made it 11 on Monday. They walked away with a 52-45 victory over Wellington-Napoleon. Given Crest Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Tigers are ranked 341st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Wellington-Napoleon still got an impressive performance from Trotter Hughes, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. Hughes hasn't dropped below 18 points for three straight games. Jack Wiggins was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.

Crest Ridge pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Wellington-Napoleon, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Crest Ridge will be playing at home against the Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Fighting Orioles at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th.
