Softball Recap: Duxbury Extends Winning Streak to Four

Duxbury put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Weymouth Wildcats 8-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Francesca ?Franky? Iovanna spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Duxbury let Catherine Grimaldi and Eibhleann ?Avy? Thompson run wild. Grimaldi scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Thompson scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Isabella ?Izzy? LaVallee, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Duxbury kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Duxbury's win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Duxbury will welcome Whitman-Hanson Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Weymouth, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Notre Dame Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
