Softball Recap: Bloom Wins Going Away Against Thornridge

Bloom won the last time they faced Thornridge and things went their way on Monday too. The Blazing Trojan blew past the Falcons 18-1. The Blazing Trojan might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Halie Walter made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Walter was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nayla Nardi, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Aryana Knaack was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Bloom always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Bloom's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Thornridge, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Bloom has already played their next game, a 7-2 loss against Marian Catholic on the 22nd. Hopefully Thornridge paid attention to the Blazing Trojan's match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Blazing Trojan at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
