Softball Recap: Patuxent Drops Season-High Score on Mcdonough

Patuxent's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with an 11-7 win over the McDonough Rams. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Hannah Bruno was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Bruno was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rose Harrell, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Kylie Coombs was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Patuxent's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for McDonough, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Coming up, Patuxent will square off against Westlake at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Wolverines at the right time seeing as the Wolverines are stuck on a five-game losing streak. McDonough has already played their next game (against Towson), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
