Basketball Recap: St. Elizabeth's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

St. Elizabeth was the 41-40 winner over Macks Creek when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The St. Elizabeth Hornets took a 60-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Macks Creek Pirates on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Pirates are ranked 20th).

Macks Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brooklyn Duggan, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards. Duggan has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Emma Seaholm was another key player, putting up 16 points and three blocks.

St. Elizabeth's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2. As for Macks Creek, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

St. Elizabeth wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-50 loss against Crocker on the 12th. As for Macks Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-31 win against Dadeville on the 10th.
