It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but North Greene ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Cougars 6-5. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Chelsey Casstleberry made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, North Greene let Brooklyn Sharrow and Jaycey Arnold run wild.
