Preview: West Broward Bobcats vs. South Dade Buccaneers
The West Broward Bobcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the South Dade Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
West Broward had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 59 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 23-14 victory over Everglades.
West Broward's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jonathan Morillo, who threw for 241 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah DeWoskin, who gained 130 total yards.
Another reason for the win was West Broward's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 10.5 sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Luis Rojas and Tristan Lewis who racked up 8.5 sacks between them.
Meanwhile, South Dade had just enough and edged Southridge out 33-30 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for South Dade.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Dade to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jean Calixte, who threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Edward Farley-kendrick, who picked up 149 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
West Broward pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.0 points per game. As for South Dade, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
