South Lakes came out on top against Oakton on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Seahawks took their contest against the Cougars 8-5. The Seahawks haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Gracie De La Cruz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kayla Rudolph, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Lindsey Poole was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South Lakes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

South Lakes' win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Oakton, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.

Coming up, South Lakes will welcome Chantilly at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Seahawks are on a three-game streak of home losses, and the Chargers a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck. As for Oakton, they will head out on the road to challenge Mount Vernon at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Majors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.64 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
