Softball Recap: White Pine Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for White Pine, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. Everything went their way against the Lake Mead Christian Academy Eagles on Friday as they made off with a 16-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won nine in a row.

Paige Hayward was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, White Pine got a massive performance out of Camden Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Johnson has launched this season. Kendra Derbidge was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

White Pine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Mead Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .273.

White Pine pushed their record up to 12-11 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Mead Christian Academy, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: White Pine beat the Eagles by a score of 18-2 later that day.
