Baseball Recap: Neuse Charter Takes a Loss

Neuse Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 17-6 to the Lakewood Leopards. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Leopards from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Neuse Charter saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Phillips, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most stolen bases Phillips has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Joseph Boykin, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Neuse Charter's record is now 0-9. As for Lakewood, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Neuse Charter is set to face off against their familiar foe Union at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lakewood will square off against rival Rosewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
