Football Recap: Rockwall Comes Up Short

After flying high against Tyler Legacy last Thursday, Rockwall came back down to earth. The Yellowjackets fell 47-41 to the Rockwall-Heath Hawks on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (39), the Yellowjackets still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Rockwall lost, don't look at Brent Rickert. Despite the final result, he threw for 344 yards and five TDs. The Yellowjackets are 2-1 when Rickert posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 2-4 otherwise. Ryan Wiley did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 77 receiving yards.

Rockwall now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Rockwall-Heath, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Rockwall is set to challenge their familiar foe North Forney at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,206 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Rockwall-Heath will face off against rival Forney at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
