Baseball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short

Springfield was the 5-4 winner over Harriton when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars fell just short of the Rams by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Cougars' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Jack Rae was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Springfield saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danny Meakim, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Springfield's record now sits at 1-4. As for Harriton, their win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.

Looking ahead, Springfield will face off against Kennett at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Demons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.29 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Harriton, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Archbishop Wood at 4:00 p.m.
