Basketball Recap: Nolan Peterson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Mountain View

After losing to Mountain View the last time they met, Roosevelt decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Roosevelt Roughriders secured a 52-47 W over the Mountain View Mountain Lions on Tuesday. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Roughriders were down 31-12 in the second quarter.

Roosevelt's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nolan Peterson, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. What's more, Peterson also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooks Reckard, who went 5-for-8 en route to 13 points.

Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Mountain View still got an impressive performance from Cole Tonniges, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. Dylan Garland was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

Roosevelt's record is now 11-8. As for Mountain View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.

Looking ahead, Roosevelt will take on Severance at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Severance will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Roosevelt surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mountain View, they will face off against Wellington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
