Softball Recap: Newton Falls Starts off Right with Win over Waterloo

Newton Falls had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Waterloo Vikings 5-4. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kylee Lance spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

Newton Falls and Waterloo will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Newton Falls is set to take on their familiar foe Crestview at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Waterloo will face off against rival Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
